Largest Heroin Bust in Alliance History

ALLIANCE, Ohio - A man was arrested Saturday night in connection with what Alliance Police are deeming the largest seizure of heroin in the city's history.

Ghani Malik Khalifa-El, 38, was arrested for trafficking in heroin, possession of heroin and criminal tools.
According to police, authorities executed simultaneous search warrants at homes on West Main and East Grant streets as part of an ongoing investigation into heroin trafficking in the city.

Detectives seized approximately 50 grams of uncut heroin, which have a street value of approximately $6,000-10,000 -- an amount that police said is the largest in Alliance history for a heroin bust.
"Officers experienced split emotions over making such a successful seizure and yet realizing that heroin, a drug that has been plaguing nearby communities, has also hit Alliance despite our very aggressive drug enforcement efforts here under Chief Scott Griffith," Alliance Police said in a Facebook Post on Saturday.

Police also said the city has experienced "numerous" heroin-related near-deaths over the last few months.
Authorities are asking to public to notify police if anyone has information about individuals selling heroin in Stark County. Tipsters can be anonymous.
